The composition of some of these shots leaves much to be desired as they were not, at the time, intended for publication. Nevertheless they are of historical importance, and so, are offered here with the photographer's apologies.

Taking in the Western Metal Supply Company building and the monument sign (see below) from Seventh Avenue and K Street.

This sign stood for sixteen months belying the fact that it wasn't happening, and it wasn't happening here!

The sign reads, 8TH AVENUE | CLOSED BETWEEN | “J” ST & “K” ST | JULY 24, 2000 | PERMANENTLY
Um — I guess so…
